Luke Stevenson

Luke

Since 1977, Luke has been sharing his own unique blend of original material and the most popular ballads of the last 40 years. Audiences find his performances rich with genuine feeling and emotion and his special interaction with listeners creates an intimate connection that leaves a lasting impression.

“Music is a universal language and it gives me great pleasure sharing thoughts and feelings in song with the people who come to listen. In its highest form, music can be a reminder of what’s most important in life: friends, family, understanding, compassion and, of course, Love!”

“I grew up in a musical family. Everyone played something so there were always instruments around the house I could pick up and try to play. The one that made the strongest impression was an old 3/4 sized classical guitar that my dad bought for my mom that she never played. That, combined with some of my older brother’s Beatle albums were all the inspiration I needed to become a musical performer. The first time I got up on stage to sing, I was 7, and did about a 45 minute show at a teen center that my folks had started. I didn't know enough to be scared and from that point on, music was a natural part of my life.”

Born in the Midwest, Luke picked up a guitar at age 7 and never put it down. He grew up playing and singing along to Neil Diamond and Beatles songs. He is completely self taught and blessed not only with talent and a warm, engaging voice, but a unique gift for touching the people he is performing for. He has the ability to really connect with his audience and impact their hearts and lives through his music.

“Most of my waking hours, from age 7 on, were spent doing one of two things: music or golf. My father hooked me on golf and it became my life’s ambition to play professionally. I pursued that dream until 1990-91, when I traveled "Down Under" to compete on the Australian PGA tour. While I was there, I wrote a song called, "Born To Play The Game"- not so much about myself but some of the guys that I played with and competed against. A few years later it was used on ESPN’s show, "Inside The Senior PGA Tour". The song also received serious consideration for inclusion in the soundtrack of the Kevin Costner movie, ‘Tin Cup’.”

In 1996, he released his first CD entitled, "In Tahoe"- a collection of original music including two songs about Lake Tahoe and the golf song mentioned above. It’s been very well received and continues to sell well. His second CD entitled, "Time Pieces" was released in December 1998. It is a collection of his most requested songs by well-known artists.

Luke4The winter of 2002 brought the release of his much anticipated 3rd CD, simply titled "LUKE.”  Music lovers got a glimpse into an ever-expanding range of musical tastes and talent with a mixture of never before recorded original material, as well as fresh, moving and powerful versions of some of his listener's favorite songs.

Responding to listener’s requests for products that capture the intimacy and energy of his live performances, Luke released “Luke-Live!”,  a double CD recorded during a live concert performance and “Live in Tahoe”, a double DVD from the same event  that blends concert footage with other live performances filmed in beautiful locations in and around the Hyatt Regency-Lake Tahoe and breathtaking outdoor locations in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Long considered a Tahoe treasure, Luke’s musical gift is apparently no longer a secret. Although Lake Tahoe remains his home and main performance site, performing regularly at the Hyatt Regency – Lake Tahoe at a beautiful club called the Lone Eagle on the North shore of Lake Tahoe in Incline Village, Luke's appeal to listeners of all ages now takes him all over the U.S. and abroad with a heavy schedule of performances at corporate engagements, special events, private parties, weddings and receptions. “I feel so blessed to make a living doing what I love!” Visit Luke's website at http://www.lukesings.com/

Ike & Martin

IkeVoted Best Local Band for 2014 in the Tahoe Tribune's "Best of the Lake" contest, the afternoon kicks off with Ike & Martin!  Ike Marr and Martin Shears have been making music together for 20 years. From their first musical meeting in Phoenix, their chemistry was undeniable. Sharing a passion for great songwriting, harmony vocals, humor, and Bourbon (now Vodka), they forged a friendship and musical partnership that has wowed audiences all over the world.IkeMartinLake

Shortly after they met, Ike & Martin formed the legendary band The Scones. In the Scones, their creativity and musicianship grew to world class status. Performing about 200 gigs per year, it's fair to say the Scones got around quite a bit.

Ike & Martin are also infamous for on tour hijinks. Making crop circles in the Black Forest of Germany, running an Irish pub dry, private flights to Telluride, and they cannot even discuss Heidelberg in public. Ike & Martin have always known that good fun makes good friends, and good friends make great music. Visit their website at http://www.ikeandmartin.com/

Foreverland

When Foreverland took the stage for the first time one San Francisco night in June 2009, no one could have predicted that just two weeks later, Michael Jackson would pass away. But since that moment, Foreverland: The Electrifying 14-piece Tribute to Michael Jackson, has been leading a larger-than-life celebration of his musical legacy from coast to coast.

Foreverland-8x10-no-textA different kind of tribute band, you won’t see any impersonations here. Instead, Foreverland simply aims to honor and do justice to the music and spirit of the King of Pop. Throughout this truly unforgettable performance, die-hard fans will relive their favorite MJ moments, and younger crowds will rediscover the amazing music that remains timeless.

The band has mesmerized audiences around the country with their one-of-a-kind performances of the music of Michael Jackson, and they continue to play to bigger and bigger crowds. Foreverland’s four dynamic vocalists, powerhouse rhythm section, and slamming horn section recreate hits like “I Want You Back,” “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough,” “Smooth Criminal,” and “Thriller” from the Jackson 5 era through the end of Michael’s incredible career with energy, groove, and force.

Michael Jackson lives forever with Foreverland, as they carry out his mission to move audiences' hearts and dancing feet with music night after night. Visit their website at http://www.foreverland.com/

Grand Funk Railroad

"You cannot talk about rock in the 1970s without talking about Grand Funk Railroad!"
David Fricke, Rolling Stone Magazine, April 3, 2003

GFRBandOriginating from Flint, Michigan in 1969, this top selling American rock group of the 70s is "COMIN' TO YOUR TOWN TO HELP YOU PARTY IT DOWN". Known as "The American Band", the high-energy five-piece group will be headlining this year's Red, White, and Tahoe Blue celebration! Grand Funk Railroad includes original founding members Don Brewer (vocals and drums, writer and singer of the multi-million selling hit, We're An American Band) and bassist Mel Schacher, "The God Of Thunder". Joining Don and Mel are true "All Stars". Singer Max Carl is a rock veteran from 38 Special. Max penned and sang 38's biggest hit "Second Chance" and was co-founder of California's legendary Jack Mack and the Heart Attack. Don refers to Max as "the best blue-eyed soul singer on the planet". Lead guitarist Bruce Kulick is best known for his 12 years with KISS and also has credits with Michael Bolton, Meatloaf and Billy Squier. (KISS members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley were influenced early on by Grand Funk.) Keyboardist Tim Cashion has a master's degree in music from the University of Miami. Affectionately called "Dr. Tim", his credits include stints with Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band and English soul man Robert Palmer.

GFR2Grand Funk laid the groundwork for such bands as Foreigner, Journey, Van Halen and Bon Jovi with its signature hard driving sound, soulful vocals, muscular instrumentation and forceful pop melodies. The fact that Grand Funk's legacy still reigns over the Classic Rock landscape forty-five years after its 1969 birth in Flint, Michigan is a testament to the group's influence and staying power. Mega-hits We're An American Band, I'm Your Captain/Closer To Home, Locomotion, and Some Kind Of Wonderful still receive continuous airplay on Classic Rock radio. We're An American Band has received notoriety in recent years being used in movie sound tracks and in television/radio advertising.

GFR3Internationally acclaimed Grand Funk has toured the world, selling out in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Japan and South America. A 1971 performance at New York's Shea Stadium sold out faster than the Beatles. The group's widespread appeal is also evident in its prestigious recording achievements. Over their career, Grand Funk has had 19 charted singles, 8 Top 40 hits and two Number One singles (We're An American Band and Locomotion, both selling more than one million each). The group has now accumulated 13 gold and 10 platinum records with record sales in excess of 25 million copies sold worldwide. The most recent gold CD award was presented to the band May 10, 2002 for their greatest hits package Grand Funk Railroad The Collectors Series.

The multi-talented band carries on the tradition of Grand Funk hits and creates a new chapter in the legacy of Grand Funk Railroad. Grand Funk's 2013 and 2014 tours were both huge successes and now, as they headline the 2015 Independence Day celebration in Incline Village, seasoned Grand Funk lovers and contemporary rock fans discovering the group for the first time will be able to celebrate with 45 YEARS OF GRAND FUNK!
